Vitality Fishing

Install fishing rods, bait, fish inventory items, stringers, buyer locations, and the player-facing fishing HUD.

Requirements

The v2.8.24 release manifest requires oxmysql, ox_lib, qbx_core, ox_inventory, ox_target, and vrp-notify. vrp-progression is integrated when present, but is not listed as a hard dependency.

Use the packaged OX_INSTALL assets and install.sql from the release rather than copying examples from another fishing version.

Installation

  1. Place vrp-fishing in your server resources directory and keep the packaged files together.
  2. Copy the entries from OX_INSTALL/vrp_fishing_items.lua into ox_inventory/data/items.lua, resolving any existing item-name collisions.
  3. Copy the PNG images from OX_INSTALL/images/ into ox_inventory/web/images/.
  4. Import install.sql into your database when deploying, or confirm the resource's automatic records-table setup succeeded.
  5. Start its required resources first, then start vrp-fishing. Restart ox_inventory after changing item definitions.

How players fish

  1. Use a fishing rod in ox_inventory or run /fish while facing valid water.
  2. The system checks water, active equipment and bait, then begins casting.
  3. When a fish bites, press Space in the blue hook window and complete the reel-in.
  4. Fish are placed into an available fish stringer, or into regular inventory if a stringer is missing or full.
  5. Visit legal fish buyers to sell eligible catches. Protected catches can be released for XP or kept as illegal contraband, depending on your configuration.

Fishing supports freshwater, shore, coastal and offshore areas without fixed fishing-spot blips. Rod strength affects which catches can be handled; check current Config.Rods settings instead of assuming older zone restrictions.

Fishing HUD and commands

in-game commands
/fish
/stopfishing
/fishinghud
/fishingrecordsui
/fishingbait

Use /fishinghud to move and resize the fishing interface. While fishing, B opens the tackle selector, and L opens fishing records. Moving the character or using /stopfishing ends the session.

Economy, tackle and storage

  • Config.WaterFishing — water detection and quality.
  • Config.Rods — rod tiers and catch handling.
  • Config.Fish and Config.PriceMultiplier — species, weight, legal/illegal prices.
  • Config.Stringer and Config.TackleBox — optional ox_inventory containers.
  • Config.LegalBuyers and Config.IllegalBuyer — selling locations.
  • Config.FishingRecords and Config.RareVariants — persistence and rare catches.

Stringers can carry up to 30 fish by default. A player can use Unload Fish Stringer at the rear of an unlocked vehicle; transfer respects trunk slot and weight limits, and leftover fish stay in the stringer.

Troubleshooting

  • Missing rod/bait items or icons: check the OX item entries and PNG paths and restart ox_inventory.
  • No fishing interaction: confirm the player is facing valid water, has the required tackle, and all dependencies started.
  • Stringer or tackle box not opening: verify OX container definitions and metadata for your installed version.
  • Records not saving: inspect the vrp_fishing_records table and oxmysql console output.
  • Stringer cannot unload into trunk: check vehicle lock state, rear proximity, trunk capacity, and the current server logs.
